Le lundi 29 janvier 2024, le Sénégal se retrouve à un moment crucial dans sa quête pour conserver son titre. Après un brillant premier tour, le champion d’Afrique doit confirmer sa forme éclatante face à une Côte d’Ivoire miraculée, lors des huitièmes de finale de la CAN 2023 à Yamoussoukro.
Pour cette première rencontre en phase éliminatoire directe, Aliou Cissé devrait effectuer seulement trois changements par rapport à son équipe de départ contre la Guinée, selon nos confrères de OnzedAfrik. Ainsi, Moussa Niakhaté retrouvera sa place dans la défense centrale aux côtés de Kalidou Koulibaly, au détriment d’Abdoulaye Seck. Les deux autres modifications devraient intervenir au milieu de terrain, où le retour du jeune prodige sénégalais Lamine Camara est attendu.
Alors que Pape Matar Sarr va débuter son troisième match en tant que titulaire, l’autre élément clé du milieu de terrain, Pape Guèye, ne pourra pas jouer contre les Éléphants. Nampalys Mendy devrait donc le remplacer dans un rôle de sentinelle au sein du trio du milieu.
