Un des meilleurs Sénégalais depuis le début de la CAN-2023, Pape Guéye ne devrait pas disputer la rencontre de ce soir face aux Éléphants de la Côte d’Ivoire. Touché face à la Guinée, il a manqué les dernières séances d’entraînement des Lions et devrait sans doute déclarer forfait.
Avec un milieu bien garni avec Pathé Ciss, Idrissa Gana Guèye, Nampalys Mendy ou encore Cheikhou Kouyaté, Aliou Cissé ne devrait pas avoir du mal à remplacer son homme à tout faire. Mais la particularité, c’est que Pape Guèye a été dernièrement utilisé comme demi-centre, rôle hybride qui combine le poste de milieu récupérateur et celui de défenseur central. Dans ce rôle, deux joueurs de l’effectif semblent être les plus aptes à le suppléer aisément.
Abdou Diallo, option n°1
Le premier, c’est Abdou Diallo. Titulaire dans ce rôle lors du premier match, le joueur de Al-Arabi au Qatar a été très bon. Utilisé comme sentinelle à Leipzig et défenseur central de métier, il a les qualités requises pour jouer en défense et occuper le rôle de récupérateur avec sa bonne vision pour dicter le tempo du jeu sénégalais. S’il a été le premier choix pour occuper ce rôle face à la Gambie, malgré la présence d’Idrissa Gana Guéye, Pathé Ciss ou encore Cheikhou Kouyaté, il pourrait encore l’être face aux Ivoiriens, ce soir.
Cheikhou Kouyaté, option n°2
Plusieurs fois utilisé comme défenseur central, Cheikhou Kouyaté a fini par en acquérir toutes les ficelles. Combatif et dur sur l’homme, il est un récupérateur hors pair et un joueur de l’ombre qui travaille pour le rayonnement des joueurs plus créatifs de l’effectif. S’il est l’un des favoris pour remplacer Pape Guèye, c’est pour son physique. Face à un milieu de terrain composé de colosses comme Seko Fofana, Ibrahim Sangaré et Frank Kessié, le défi physique qu’apportera Kouyaté sera très utile. Surtout que pour ce match, les duels pourraient être très rudes venant des Ivoiriens, comme pour montrer aux Sénégalais qu’ils ne se laisseront pas faire et prouver à leurs supporters qu’ils ne lâcheront rien.
